Pitch Black Card List and Master Set Guide: All 194 Cards

What Pitch Black is

The set in a paragraph.

Pitch Black is the Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution expansion that released in English on 17 July 2026. It is built around Mega Darkrai ex, with Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, Mega Excadrill ex and more joining in, and it carries the set code PBL.

Its Japanese counterpart is Abyss Eye. The two share the headline cards, but the numbering and some rarities differ, so an English checklist will not line up with a Japanese set.

The Pitch Black card list, counted

Every rarity, from Common to Mega Hyper Rare.

The Pitch Black card list has 84 cards in the main set, numbered 001 to 084, and 36 secret rares numbered above it, from 085 to 120. That is 120 numbered cards in all.

The main set is 37 Commons, 26 Uncommons, 11 Rares and 10 Double Rare ex cards. The secret rares are 11 Illustration Rares, 18 Ultra Rares, 6 Special Illustration Rares and a single Mega Hyper Rare.

The Mega ex cards

The headline cards, and every version of them.

Six Mega Evolution ex cards lead the set as Double Rares in the main set: Mega Delphox ex (008), Mega Zeraora ex (027), Mega Slowbro ex (031), Mega Chandelure ex (038), Mega Darkrai ex (048) and Mega Excadrill ex (065).

Four of them return higher up. Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, Mega Darkrai ex and Mega Excadrill ex each have an Ultra Rare version, and Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex and Mega Darkrai ex each have a Special Illustration Rare. Mega Darkrai ex also gets the set's only Mega Hyper Rare, at 120.

Alongside the Megas, the main set holds four more ex cards: Lurantis ex, Wailord ex, Rampardos ex and Morpeko ex.

The Pitch Black chase cards

In order, from our one month on Top 10. No prices.

Our one month on Top 10 ranked the set by ungraded value. The order at the top was clear: Mega Darkrai ex Special Illustration Rare (116), then Mega Darkrai ex Mega Hyper Rare (120), then Morpeko ex Special Illustration Rare (117).

Behind them sat the rest of the Special Illustration Rares, Mega Zeraora ex (114), Mega Chandelure ex (115), Gwynn (119) and Gladion's Final Battle (118), followed by Misty's Vitality as an Ultra Rare and two Illustration Rares, Slowbro and Goldeen.

Values move, so for the current order and the numbers behind it, use the Top 10 rather than this page.

How many cards in the Pitch Black master set?

Where the reverse holos come in.

A master set is one of every card plus every reverse holo version. In Pitch Black, every Common, Uncommon and Rare in the main set has a reverse holo: that is 74 cards. The Double Rare ex cards and all 36 secret rares do not.

So the Pitch Black master set is the 120 numbered cards plus 74 reverse holos, 194 cards in all.

The reverse holos are the part people lose track of, because they share a number with the regular card. A checklist with a separate box for each version is the simplest fix.

How to collect the Pitch Black master set

A plan that works whether you open packs or buy singles.

Start with the list. The free Pitch Black checklist has every card and every reverse holo, so you can tick off what you own today at no cost.

Then hold every gap open with placeholders. Each one marks a slot, so the binder looks complete in shape from the first day and you swap in the real card when you find it.

Finally, give it a home. The Pitch Black Master Set Bundle puts the three together: your choice of Pitch Black printed binder, standard or the Mega Darkrai premium design, the master set checklist and the full set of digital placeholders.
