Top 10 Most Valuable Ascended Heroes Pokemon Cards (GBP)
Back on 3 February we ranked the ten most valuable cards in Ascended Heroes. The set was a month old, the hype was deafening, and Mega Gengar ex was carrying a £4,767 PSA 10. We said at the time that nothing in a set that young has a settled price. Six months later, here's the receipt.
This isn't a launch post. It's the same set, the same source, the same GBP toggle — re-run. Every card below carries its February number next to its July one, so you can see exactly what moved. And plenty moved: four of February's top ten aren't on this list at all, one card more than doubled raw, and the biggest name in the set lost nearly two thirds of its graded value.
One pattern runs through the whole thing, and it's worth having in your head before you scroll. Raw and graded went in opposite directions. The cards people actually want to hold went up. The slabs came down — every last one of them.

That's the churn at the bottom end in one sentence. Souichirou Gunjima's Feraligatr is all teeth and orange spray, a proper Johto-fan card. Its Grade 9 sits above raw, so a clean copy is worth sending. The cheapest way onto this list, for now.

Up 12% raw, down one place, no drama in either direction — while cards above it were halving and doubling, N's Zoroark just sat there and drifted gently upward. Raita Kazama's swirling ukiyo-e backdrop is genuinely one of the best pieces in the set. Cards that behave like this over six months are usually the ones still worth something in five years.

£347.12Grade 9 £141.85New entry. Naoki Saito, a beach, and Lillie hugging a Clefairy — no gold, no Mega, no chase-card theatrics, and it's walked onto the list anyway. Lillie has one of the most devoted followings of any trainer in the game and her cards have a long history of being underrated on release and then impossible to buy cheaply eighteen months later. At £147 with a £347 gem-mint, this is the sleeper of the ten.

Put it next to the pastel Dragonite at #3, which went up 46% in the same window, and you have the entire six-month thesis of Ascended Heroes in two cards: the gold was launch hype, the art was the actual card. Its Grade 9 is under raw too, which is becoming a theme.

That card was never going to stay quiet for long. It's the one card here whose Grade 9 sits above raw — collectors are happy to pay for a decent slab of this rather than gamble, which is unusual in this set and says a lot about who's buying it.

It wasn't on our February list at all. James Turner's crystalline Tera treatment is the sort of card that gets ignored at launch because it isn't gold and isn't the headline, then quietly finds its audience. Its Grade 9 sits below raw as well. Same story as the Charizard: it's a 10 or it's nothing.

It's still gold, it's still Charizard, and it still can't hold a price, which tells you how much of that February number was launch adrenaline. Note the Grade 9 too: £347, below a raw copy. The market will not pay for a 9 of this card. It's paying for the 10 or it's paying for nothing.

Same Pokemon, same set, opposite directions. The difference is that DOM's pastel dreamscape is a piece of art and the gold one is a novelty. The graded price still came off 17%, because no PSA 10 in this set was spared. But the raw number is doing the talking.

It was fifth in February at £383 — it's second now at £801, having more than doubled while the gold cards fell apart. And here's the tell: its PSA 10 is the only one on this list that didn't move (−0.8%). Raw doubled, graded held. That's a card being bought by people who want to own it, not flip it. booota put Pikachu in a shaft of forest light and did nothing clever at all. Six months says that was the right call.

In February a gem-mint Gengar was £4,767. Today it's £1,792. That's not Gengar falling out of favour; that's six months of graded copies finally landing and a scarcity premium evaporating. danciao's artwork is the reason the raw price is stone. The slab was always the speculative bit.
So what actually happened here? Two things, and they're related.
The graded market caught up. In February, Ascended Heroes PSA 10s were scarce because barely anyone had got their cards back from grading yet. Six months is roughly one grading turnaround plus a queue — and now the population reports have filled in. Every single PSA 10 on this list is down: Gengar −62%, Charizard Y −38%, Dragonite −17%. That's not the set dying. That's a scarcity premium expiring on schedule, exactly as it always does once supply arrives. If you sent cards off in February expecting the February number back, this is the lesson, and it's an expensive one.
The gold cooled and the art climbed. Look at what fell hardest: both gold etched cards. Mega Charizard Y −36% raw, gold Mega Dragonite −49% raw. Now look at what rose: the two Pikachu ex full arts, up 109% and holding a new top-five spot. Launch money chases the shiniest thing in the box. Six months later the money has quietly moved to the cards people actually want on a wall. That's the single most useful thing this set has taught us, and it'll be true of the next one.
And the four that vanished — Mega Froslass ex, Surfer, Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex and Iris's Fighting Spirit — are the quiet warning. All four were £85–£124 in February. All four have now fallen below the £72 that gets you onto this list. Nothing dramatic happened to any of them. They just stopped being interesting, which is how most modern cards go.
None of this makes Ascended Heroes a bad set. It's still one of the most expensive modern sets ever printed and it still has a £836 card at the top. It just isn't a February set any more, and pretending otherwise is how people lose money. If you're chasing it now, chase the art.
One last thing. If you're going to collect this set properly, collect it into something worth opening.
