Pokemon TCG Pocket has named its next expansion. Dual Fusion goes live on 28 October at 6pm Pacific time, which works out at roughly 1am on Thursday 29 October for players in the UK, so it should be waiting for you when you wake up.

The headline is a brand new card type for the app: dual-type Pokemon. Each one carries two types on a single card, and the first two are both Megas. Mega Mewtwo X ex is Psychic and Fighting, while Mega Greninja ex is Water and Darkness.

The Pokemon Company has also promised fresh cards and illustrations for Pikachu and the original Kanto trio of Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise. The official preview is below.

Building the set?

Track every card with a free printable checklist, fill the gaps with placeholders, and keep it mint in a printed binder.

Rental decks. From launch until mid December, six Dual Fusion rental decks will be available, including dual-type builds around Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex, so you can try the new mechanic before you have pulled a single card. A new Dragon-type elite deck built around Mega Rayquaza ex, Dragonair and Gouging Fire also lands in your Gifts.

Second anniversary. Pocket turns two this month. From 29 October to 14 December every player gets a ticket for a booster pack with a guaranteed two-star card. A PROMO Reissue event (29 October to 12 November) brings back B series promos, and card collection missions running to 26 January hand out handy Trainers such as Sabrina and Red.

Special Packs and Pikachu missions. Special Packs debut from 31 October to 26 December, opened with their own stamina that refills once a week and each guaranteed a one-star card; the first, First Partners, features a starter from each of the nine regions. Separately, the Pika Pika! Pikachu missions marking 30 years of the TCG run for a full year from 20 October: log in for 10 days for an event-only Pikachu ex immersive card.

Later in the season. A Dual Fusion emblem event (5 to 15 November), a Bonus Week (13 to 20 November), Promo Pack C Series Vol. 1 (17 November to 1 December), themed promo events (25 November to 25 December), Ranked Match Season C1 (30 November to 14 December) and a Community Week (5 to 12 December). Mega Greninja covers and backdrops also arrive from 31 October.

Pocket is digital, but if all this has you wanting the real cardboard in a binder, our master set bundles, checklist kits and placeholders map out a physical set from day one.
