Crystal Lugia, Dark Tyranitar and Magikarp, revealed from the 30th Celebration Classic Collection

The 30th Celebration Classic Collection just delivered a hit of pure nostalgia: Crystal Lugia from Aquapolis, Dark Tyranitar from EX Team Rocket Returns, and Magikarp from Paldea Evolved are all coming back. The set lands worldwide on 16 September.

The Crystal Lugia is the headline, and there's a quirk worth knowing: unlike other Classic Collection cards, the English version doesn't match the original. It looks recreated rather than reused. Below are the reprints in full, plus two brand-new cards, Gimmighoul and Ditto, that were revealed alongside them.

The headliner: Crystal LugiaThe iconic Aquapolis card, reborn for 30 years

Crystal Lugia English card, Classic Collection reprint from Aquapolis, in 30th Celebration — **Crystal Lugia** (English) — the Aquapolis classic, back in the Classic Collection. Its Crystal Type Poke-BODY changes Lugia's type to match the Energy you attach.

The original 2002 Aquapolis Crystal Lugia card, for comparison — The **2002 Aquapolis original** for comparison. Oddly, the English 30th version was **recreated, not reused**: the Crystal Type text is now centred, the e-Reader logo is gone, and the spacing and fonts are tweaked.

Flip a coin. If heads, search your deck for a Pokemon and switch it with this Pokemon. Any attached cards, damage counters, Special Conditions, turns in play, and any other effects remain on the new Pokemon. If you switched a Pokemon in this way, put this card into your deck. Then, shuffle your deck.

Portal takeAlso new. Surprisingly Transform is pure flavour-as-mechanic: coin-flip into another Pokemon from your deck, keeping everything attached. Chaotic, but very on-brand for Ditto.

For collectors, the recreation detail is the interesting bit. On the English Crystal Lugia the 'Crystal Type' text has been centred, the e-Reader logo is gone, and the spacing and fonts are subtly different from the 2002 print. It's a small thing, but it means the 30th version is its own card rather than a straight scan of the original.
